Comprises:

  1. Small black notebook, 'Notes Cambridge [1], October Term 1908', containing notes on the principles of inorganic chemistry plus the instructions for the crossing of stocks from Miss E.R. Saunders, 1909. Most of the notebook is an anthology of extracts from Celia Furse's reading on religion and science, philosophy, Greek thinkers, Blake and Tolstoy
  2. Small black notebook, 'Notes, Netherhampton 1911 [2]', similar contents to the first notebook being an anthology of extracts from Celia Furse's reading on religion and science, philosophy, Greek thinkers, Blake and Tolstoy, ending with extracts from a book on the philosophy of Henri Bergson
  3. Small black notebook, 'Henri Bergson Evolution Créatrice Notes', containing quotations interspersed with Celia's own thinking about the contents, 1911-1912
  4. Pale grey hardback sketchbook with blue spine containing botanical and insect studies (some on loose sheets, interleaved). Mostly pencil, some coloured in watercolours. The book is dated '1907' inside, but many are dated later (up to 1912)
  5. 'Violets' notebook (without cover), 1911, containing pencil and watercolour drawings of violets
