Notebook, typescript and holograph, containing working notes divided into sections marked 'Similes', 'Gags', 'Titles', 'Style', 'Notions' and 'Grab Bag'. Much of the material is copied from the earlier notebook, with revised versions of several of the longer notes, including (fols. 83-87) 'Twelve Notes on the Mystery Story', 1948, a later version of Dep. Chandler 1, fols. 41-49 (see also Dep. Chandler 11, fols. 16-23). At fols. 88-89 are notes on slang, 1949-1950, with (fol. 90) notes for two unwritten stories.
