The Social Affairs Unit is a social policy think tank in the UK. It was established in 1980 as an offshoot of the Institute of Economic Affairs, but became independent within a few years. It seeks to identify research with a potential to inform public policy and translate it from academic discourse into public debate, publishing books and pamphlets on various social, economic and cultural issues.
