Biographical / Historical
The Bruges Group is an independent all-party British think tank which aims to promote discussion on the European Union and to advance the education of the public on European affairs. It advocates for a restructuring of Britain's relationship with the European Union and other European countries, campaigning against closer relations. It was founded in 1989, inspired by Margaret Thatcher's Bruges speech in September 1988. The Group publishes independent research and holds regular public meetings, seminars, debates and conferences.
