Machinery of Government Policy Group and Civil Service Committee, Nov 1964-Apr 1969
The Machinery of Government Policy Group was formed in March 1965, 'to assess whether control of the administration through the Cabinet system is effective; how far the administrative machine is efficient at the centre and responsive to regional needs; and whether the procedure of Parliament could be improved for the conduct of Business, the control of expenditure and discussion of policy.' Members included R.A. Butler, Edward Boyle, John Barnes, Timothy Bligh, Geoffrey D.M. Block, Edward Fellows, David Gibson-Watt, Ivor Gowan, Airey Neave, Michael Noble and John Osborn.
Civil Service Committee members included Evelyn Sharp, Eric Roll, James Robertson, F.A. Bishop, Henry Hardman and William Plowden.
