(fols. 1-253) "Malaya, Hong Kong and Non-Government Far East: Letters and accounts of war casualties and Nurses escaped; C.O. letters regarding transfers of Malayan Sisters", 5 Jan. 1942-Oct. 1946
(fols. 254-262) cuttings about casualties in Malaya, and Far Eastern affairs in general, from The Times, Daily Telegraph, and Evening Standard, 1942-22 Jun. 1943
Much of the correspondence with the Colonial Office (fols. 1-253) is connected with the capture, about 24 Feb. 1942, by the Japanese of passengers on SS Tanjong Penang (sic), and subsequent efforts to trace nurses. There are many lists of casualties, including those among the European civil population, and lists of women internees in Changi Camp, Singapore. Correspondents include the Prisoner of War Department of the Foreign Office, John Pook & Co. (London Agents), British North Borneo (Chartered) Company, and matrons of St. Bartholomew's and Guy's Hospitals in London.
