The inaugural meeting of the North Western Area Group of the Conservative Commonwealth Council, initially scheduled for 30 October 1954, was held on 5 February 1955 under the chairmanship of Charles Lawson. The North Western Area Group did not encompass the members of the Liverpool West Africa Group, whose formation pre-dated its own.
