Biographical / Historical

[The Committee, chaired by Anthony Cripps, QC, was established by Heath in Feb 1968 at the request of the Women's National Advisory Committee. Its terms of reference were to examine existing legislation 'to determine:-

  1. What changes are desirable in the law and in administration in order to enable women to participate equally with men in the political, economic and social life of the community;
  2. What changes are desirable in the law relating to their rights and obligations within the family.'
