Biographical / Historical
Major Philip Doyne Vigors was an officer in the British army. He joined the army in 1846 and was stationed in Sydney, New South Wales, from 1849 to 1858. His light military duties left him with plenty of opportunities to pursue his interests in natural history and Aboriginal culture.
