Biographical / Historical

Gabriel Devéria was a French diplomat who began his time in China as a student-interpreter.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Purchased from Bruno Tartarin France, 18/08/2000. From the estate of the Devéria family, possibly having belonged to Gabriel Devéria, brother of the photographer and Egyptologist Théodule Devéria.
