Biographical / Historical
Eugene Clutterbuck Impey was a soldier and administrator from a well-known colonial family. In 1858 he took up his first appointment as a political agent in the court of Alwar in north-eastern Rajasthan. During his five years there he photographed extensively, amassing material for a book of architectural and landscape scenes.
