Comprising two separate diaries in loose leaf notebooks of holidays with her husband Charles:

  1. (fols. 1-123) 'Away to Austria: The record of a fornight's holiday in Austria', 24 Jul-6 Aug 1955, staying in Innsbruck and St. Gilgen (visiting the Hafelekar, Solbad Hall, Rattenberg, Egls, the Patscherkofel, Wörgl, Jochberg, the Grossglockner, Heiligenblut, Badgestein, Leichtenstein Gorge, Lind, St. Wolfgang, Salzburg, Bad Ischl). Entries are written by both Mabel and Charles. Watercolour and pen-and-ink drawings, black and white photographs, picture postcards and printed ephermera are stuck in.
  2. (fols. 124-247) 'By Ghyll and Tarn, Pike and Fell: The record of a fortnight's holiday in the Lake District', 27 Jul-11 Aug 1956 (Birkenhead, Liverpool, Keswick, Grange-over-Sands, Seathwaite, Watendlath, Latrigg fell, Cockermouth, Calder Hall, Whinlatter Pass, Caldbeck, Gretna Green, Lodore Falls, Honister Pass, Crummock Water, Grasmere, Wast Water, Helvellyn, Ambleside, Hawkshead, Keswick sports and sheepdog trials and travelling home via Malton and York). Watercolour and coloured pencil drawings are stuck in as well as black and white photographs, postcards, printed ephemera and dried flowers.
