On Wednesday last the magistrates of Edinburgh, after a solemn procession, publicly burnt at the Market Cross some vestments of Romish priests, crucifixes, chalices and pictures, and amongst the latter a picture of our Blessed Lord, after having run it through with a halbert; "this will bring a horrid reproach upon our nations all Christendom over;" an order has come from the Queen for enforcing the laws against Romanists, and also for prosecuting the dissenting, that is the episcopal ministers.

Fragment of same seal as with the preceding letter [fol. 66.]
