Biographical / Historical

Janet Young, known as Baroness Young following her elevation to the House of Lords in 1971, served as the Party's Vice-Chairman with responsibility for women between 1975 and 1983. As a member of the House of Lords, and as a member of the Cabinet from 1981, Baroness Young acted as a representative of the Women's Organisation and often served as a liaison between the National Advisory Committee and the Party leadership.
