fols. 1-59: Reports from Russell and a few from Gass.

These reports, sent at roughly fortnightly intervals, are concerned primarily with the state of tension in Ashanti, giving detailed information about acts of violence and other occurrences. They deal also with the growth of the National Liberation Movement; the cocoa price controversy; problems of labour and local government; and the General Election of 1956.

At the end of the file are notes by Russell of his meeting on 19 June 1956 with the Commissioner of Police and other police officers and two letters about Intelligence Reports, 23 May and 22 June 1956.
