These subject-based research files have been arranged according to the core functions and structure of the Conservative Research Department. Although the exact structure and organisation of CRD has changed over the years, it has broadly been organised into four core sections: one dealing with economic affairs, one with home affairs, one with external affairs, and a political section. The files have been arranged according to policy area within each of these sections.
