Amongst these letters are a batch dated 1898-1925 (items 49-192) which should probably have been filed with those in C166 above.

Comprising letters to Travers Buxton and Sir John Harris (with the exception of items 9 and 223 which are from Harris, and 88 and 174 which are from the Anti-Slavery Society). Their time as Secretary and Organising/Parliamentary Secretary overlapped and for many of the letters there is no clear distinction as to whether they were written to Buxton or Harris. Includes:

  2. (item 44a) first annual report on slavery in Abyssinia prepared by His Majesty's Minister at Addis Ababa, printed, 1932

  4. (item 72-73) copy letter from Bishop Tucker to Colonel Hayes Sadler regarding the Bill for the Abolition of the Legal Status of Slavery in British East Africa, with reply, 1907
  5. (item 81) copy report by Sir W. Egerton concerning native labour in Southern Nigeria, 1910
