Sketches of arms from Yorkshire churches and houses and Extracts from the chartulary of St. Oswald's, Nostell, in Yorkshire, Written in the mid-17th century, written in 1632 by Roger Dodsworth (to fol. 89)
MS. Dodsworth 137, mid-17th century, 142 leaves: Sketches of arms from Yorkshire churches and houses, blazoned in the same order in Foster's Visitation of Yorkshire (London, 1875) from Harl. MS. 1394. There is a table of the principal arms on fol. viv.
The volume is not by Dodsworth. There are numerous annotations (e.g. fol. 18) ascribed by Thomas Hearne to Anthony à Wood (fol. i), but which are probably by Dugdale.
MS. Dodsworth 138, 1632, 173 leaves: Extracts, including one from the Taxation of pope Nicholas (fol. 109), from the chartulary of St. Oswald's, Nostell, in Yorkshire, lent to Dodsworth by Charles Fairfax, esq., of Menston, Aug. 1, 1632, and now Cott. MS. Vesp. E. xix in the British Museum (fol. 1). There are also brief notes from the chartulary of St. John's, Pontefract (fols. 59, 161).
On fol. v is an index nominum by Dodsworth, who did not, however, write fols. 24a, 49, and 89-end.
