MS. Dodsworth 135, 1631-1633, 159 leaves: Antiquarian collections which may be analysed in three groups, as follows:

1 (fol. 1). Extracts from:

  1. A chartulary of Welbeck in the custody of Robert Pierrepont, first earl of Kingston, Sept. 28, 1631, including notes from a 'liber memorandorum scriptus a fratre Johanne de Whytan anno domini 1356' (fol. 5)
  2. Fol. 91v. the register of Shrewsbury abbey, Oct. 7, 1631, 'penes Henricum Spelman, ut putatur; transcriptum in custodia Mr Hacknes of Lincoln's Inn', with a marginal note, 'I have seen the booke in sir Richard Leveson's hand of Trentham, co. Staff, 1638'. This register, for which see Coll. Top. et Gen. i. 23, was later in the possession of sir Thomas Phillipps
  3. Fols. 95, 129. the Pontefract (St. John's) chartulary, in Dodsworth's possession

  1. Fol. 1. brief genealogical notes, without arrangement, from St. Loo Kniveton's collections, from plea rolls, inquisitiones post mortem, and York episcopal registers
  2. Fol. 34v. church notes of Borough Green, co. Cambs., Worksop, co. Notts. (fol. 40v), and Cuckney, co. Notts.
  3. Fol. 44. copies of deeds 'in Mr Newton's hand, Mar. 8, 1634, quas mutuo accepit de Tho: Fox de Carleton super Trent', relating to Nottinghamshire, and (fol. 45v) Northamptonshire fines, temp. John
  4. Fol. 95. transcripts of 14th-15th-cent. evidences, from 'a box signed diversis locis B', in the possession of Thomas Standish of Duxbury in Lancashire
