Biographical / Historical

The Industrial Policy Committee was a 9-member committee appointed by Churchill and chaired by RA Butler, which was tasked with examining:
  1. The future of controls
  2. Treatment of monopolies
  3. Attitude to "Keynsian Theory"
  4. Partnership in Industry
  5. Reform of Taxation
  6. Treatment of Nationalised Industries
  7. Wages Policy
Although not a standing committee, its membership was comprised solely of MPs which has justified its inclusion here. Its members were:
  1. RA Butler (chair)
  2. Derek Heathcoat-Amory
  3. David Eccles
  4. Oliver Stanley
  5. Oliver Lyttelton
  6. Harold Macmillan
  7. Maxwell-Fyfe
The results of the Committee's deliberations were published as the Industrial Charter
