Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Working Group.

Folder H.98. Correspondence, memoranda and papers mainly 1971-1976 and a little later material 1981. Includes A. Klug's first report (February 1974) on "the desirability and feasibility of developing a high field NMR spectrometer at EMBL" and comments by others, later report of Working Group on future developments of NMR at EMBL (September 1975), staff appointments, other NMR research projects at EMBL and elsewhere.

No NMR spectrometer was acquired by EMBL at this time, in part because delays in starting the laboratory led to R. Freeman, whom it had been hoped to recruit, taking up an appointment elsewhere.

Computer Policy Working Group.

Correspondence, memoranda and papers on computer policy especially in the area of computer graphics and other advanced computer applications. Includes Working Group meetings and reports, staff appointments etc. With the appointment of R.F. Herzog as Head of Computing in 1976, the formal work of the Working Group came to an end.
