Folder C.273. Correspondence with US colleagues on collaborative work suggested by Kendrew 2 November 1955 for the chemical determination of the amino-acid sequence of myoglobin, to be undertaken by the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research New York alongside the X-ray diffraction analysis in progress at the MRC Laboratory.

The correspondence is mainly with S. Moore and W.H. Stein at the Rockefeller Institute, and with A.B. Edmundson who was the first graduate student to work on the project, initially at the Rockefeller Institute, later at Brookhaven and eventually as a postdoctoral research fellow at the MRC Laboratory. Some correspondence with other colleagues is included.

The exchanges are of particular interest in chronicling the progress of the myoglobin project at a critical time.

Folder C.274. Kendrew's and Watson's tables of co-ordinates circulated April 1967, August 1967, revised October 1967. With miscellaneous lists of requests for tables, and chart of those supplied 1967-1974.

Folder C.275. Correspondence from colleagues on sequencing research, some simple requests for Kendrew's results, others with more detailed exchanges on work in progress, publications, 1960-1967.

Kendrew's letter to C. Levinthal of 15 February 1965 explains his reluctance to distribute the tables of co-ordinates prematurely.

Folders C.276-277. Shorter correspondence distributing or requesting tables of co-ordinates compiled by Kendrew and Watson in 1967. Includes letters of thanks, information on research or educational projects, myoglobin model-building, requests to use or quote material. C.276 1967-1969. C.277 1970-1978.
