Computation on EDSAC I, 1949-1957
File
MS. Eng. c. 2396
Held at the Weston Library
The material concerns methods of using the EDSAC machine (Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Computer) for the computation of 2- and 3-dimensional Fourier and Patterson syntheses. Kendrew's early collaborator on this work was J.W. Bennett whom he met at Cambridge through H.E. Huxley and who later worked at Ferranti; they published papers on the topic in Acta crystallogr., 5, 1952 and in the official publication of the Inaugural Conference of the Manchester University Computer, 1951.
