Photograph album with interleaved handwritten descriptions with negative numbers.
Record of: ferry across The Channel to Calais and on to Paris, then travelling to Saasfee, Switzerland, for a skiing holiday with Rudolf Peierls, his wife, Genia and children, Gaby and Ronald, and Klaus Fuchs, April. 1947 [comprising the greater part of the album]; Rudolf Peierls appears frequently (esp. 43/7-8, 13, 44/7, 45/15 & 46/2-5), as does Klaus Fuchs (43/14, 43/16, 45/15, 46/2-4, 46/11 & 51/5). Also included are winter scenes in Birmingham and the environs, 1946/7; Warwick Theoretical Physics Conference with Max Krook, Hendrik B.G. Casimir, Lamek Hulthen, Gregor Wentzel, Bruno Ferretti and Freeman John Dyson, July 1947, with a trip to Warwick Castle, Jul. 26, 1947 (51/3-5 & 51/7); views in Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire, Oct. 1946-Sep. 1948, with portraits of Dorothy Millest [later Tony Skyrme's wife] (57/5-6 & 57/4); and the Atomic Energy Exhibition train at Snow Hill Station, Birmingham, May 1948 (58/8-9). Aren, loose-leaf photograph album No. 702 with black, buckram cover. 35 blue/green card leaves of photographs (recto & verso), interleaved with typewritten, dated captions and negative numbers on St. Mary's Superfine Paper. The album comprises 163 black and white prints (mainly small format, but with some enlargements) selected from Skyrme's numbered negative sets, 39-49, 51, 57-8, 63.
